Riding Lessons for Children

Lead Line Lessons, Ages 7-9
The Lead-line private lessons are a fun and easy way for child and pony to get aquainted. An instructor will show the child around the horse, help the rider mount, and lead the child for a half-hour lesson. Leadline lessons are sold in a package of six weekly lessons for $300.

Beginners, Ages 9 up
Beginners ages 9 and up start with the Summer Camp Programs. Little Britches, Junior Britches and Day Camps give them a great start. Ages six-eight for Little B's; nine and up for Junior B's and Day Camp. Beginners over the age of 12 can take the adult Introductory classes as well. We do not start beginners in the After-school Program.

Afterschool Program
Novice, Intermediate & Advanced Kids
Miwok Livery's After-school Program gives English riding lessons weekly from September through May. Children are assigned to a class appropriate for their riding experience. Classes are held in the outdoor arenas and indoor arena. The program finishes with a Horse Show-Off and BBQ. The instructors are credentialled and experienced in teaching children at all levels.

Show Team
Advanced students may qualify for the Miwok Livery Show Team. Team riders practice twice a week and compete in local schooling shows in the Bay Area. Our emphasis is on team spirit, working together toward a common goal, and achieving our personal best through consistent practice while having fun. The kids compete on the Livery's school horses in walk/trot flat classes; equitation and jump events.
