Miwok Stables is located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The Miwok Livery is contracted by the non-profit Miwok Stables Center which operates under the NPS as a Park Partner, dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the historic Miwok Stables facility.

Miwok Livery instructors and management are certified by the American Riding Instructors Association.
Horseback Riding
Enjoy horseback riding lessons at our public equestrian center, in one of the most beautiful riding stables in the San Francisco Bay Area. Located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in Marin County, Miwok Livery Stables has twenty horses and a credentialed staff of riding instructors. We are open to the public daily.
We welcome all levels, from beginners who want a trail ride or Introductory class, to Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced riders with classes in Dressage, Huntseat and Jumping. We have gentle horses and kind and skillful instructors certified by the American Riding Instructors Association. Miwok Livery Stables has been training riders since 1981. Riding classes are held in two outdoor schooling rings, indoor riding arena, and miles of the Marin Headland's scenic trails.
Miwok Stables is just ten minutes north of San Francisco, in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in the Marin Headlands. The scenery from horseback is beautiful – hidden from urban sprawl, a thousand acres of unspoiled California grasslands, oak trees and chapparal, home to deer, bobcats, coyote and jackrabbits.
