The Livery instructors are certified by the American Riding Instructors Association. They regularly attend clinics to update their training, and have years of experience teaching students of all ages. Our teaching philosophy includes learning about the world of the horse, communicating and creating a place of unity with the animal.
As Linda says,
“If your lesson was safe, fun and you learned something about horses, then we have done our job.”
Owner and head-instructor of Miwok Livery, has been training horses and riders for over thirty years. She has instructor certifications from the American Riding Instructors Association, American Riding Instructors Conference, and the Certified Horsemanship Association. She has completed thousand of miles of Endurance Rides, finishing in the top ten of the world famous Tevis Cup Ride. She enjoys traveling, especially on riding tours in Ireland, France, Italy, and Spain with students from the Livery.
Caitlin Ahlberg has been a popular part of Miwok Stables for many many years. Caitlin began riding here as a youth, sharing a horse with her mother and later riding at San Domenico while attending school there. Caitlin returned to Miwok to teach, where her natural feel and understanding for horses, and her expertise in riding makes her an outstaninding riding instructor. Added to that is her cheerful outgoing personality, lending a spirit of joy and fun to her classes. Caitlin is certified by the National Certified Horsemanship Association. Caitlin is married and they have two handsome young children. We are privileged to have Caitlin on our staff.
Kit is a veteran of A-Circuit competition, beginning her career as a young girl, showing Hunter Jumpers at San Domenico where she trained with Pam Cross on her seventeen-hand thoroughbred named Will. In 2003, Kit moved to Riverside Equestrian Center, training with Marian Nelson on her grey Thoroughbred Solomon. She showed successfully in the A circuit Hunter shows in California, including Pebble Beach. Then, moving to Massachusetts, Kit rode on the scholastic equestrian team for Stoneleigh Burnham. After a stint in Colorado, Kit has now moved back to California where she is looking forward to teaching classes at Miwok Stables, and coaching our Show Team.
As Kit says:
“I feel that I am able to give a true and well-rounded perspective of the hunter jumper world from training with different trainers and riding many different horses. I have a great eye for this sport. I am excited to share my experiences and knowledge to all the riders and I am looking forward to this upcoming show season.”
We know you will enjoy Kit’s friendly out-going personality and will learn a great deal from her.
Certified by the American Riding Instructors Association, John hails from Great Britain. He has twenty years experience with the Livery as instructor and trial guide. John is much loved by his students for his patience and good humor, and by the horses, for his care and understanding of their willing natures. John’s wife, Teresa, an avid rider herself, capably handles the office on Sundays, lends a helping hand to anyone in need, and often treats the barn with a Sunday spread of breads and cheeses. Salt of the earth, these two.
