Horseback Riding for All Ages In the beautiful Golden Gate National Recreation Area

About Us

The Miwok Stables Center

Our Non-profit Outreach Programs and Historic Restoration

In 1994, Linda Rubio founded a non-profit branch to the Miwok Livery Stables, in order to provide more riding programs for those with special needs and those who might not otherwise be able to experience riding horses and visiting the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Among the groups we have served are patients from the Marin General Hospital Cancer Recovery Unit. We teach small groups of these brave ladies, and they tell us that their experience bonding with the horses and learning to ride them gives them a tremendous boost to their recovery, mentally and physically. Often these patients will continue to ride in our classes, building their strength, and making new friends, two and four-legged.

The Center's Board of Directors and students from the Miwok Livery help with the Outreach classes, giving the students one-on-one attention, keeping the experience safe and fun.
